With an eye to the flood of codes of conduct from various international trading organizations, the eco-tex Consortium has developed a comprehensive code of conduct for environmental and social criteria called Certified Performance. Standard criteria contained in many codes of conduct are contained within Certified Performance. Alongside specific requirements in each compliance area, requirements from related areas are also incorporated (environment and quality or social and quality areas). This is actually the first step towards integrating the full CSM 2000 management system. Certified Performance is therefore complementary to it and helps an organization fulfill CSM’s complex set of requirements over time and to use eco-tex’s products efficiently in the long-term. Certified Performance for environmental and social requirements is based on management principles which help an organization independently and sustainably optimize its business practices. Certified Performance distinguishes between legal requirements and standards and additional requirements defined by trade Certified Performance is recognized internationally by trade and industry.

Certified Performance
(Social Responsibility Requirements and Work Norms)
In the area of social responsibility, Certified Performance has integrated all eight core conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO) as well as a series of criteria regarding health & safety.
Certified Performance (Environmental Requirements)
The environmental section of Certified Performance includes criteria for the minimization of water, ground and air pollution. Common standards and fundamental principals such as those contained in FSC or HACCP, for example, are integrated into Certified Performance. Handling and characteristics of certain specific chemical and toxic substances are discussed in detail.
