 Fixed prices and minimized environmental impact are 
                          the cornerstones of the partnership between the Kalkal 
                          Cooperative and several German organizations (Kalkal 
                          means “precision work” in English). The 
                          traditional leatherworking caste from northern Cameroon 
                          recruits its members from Cameroon and the bordering 
                          regions of Chad and Nigeria. Their traditional methods 
                          of production, passed down through the generations, 
                          still determine their methods and the precision of their 
                          work. No chemical substances are used during the tanning 
                          and coloring of their high-quality, leather products, 
                          which means that water pollutions requirements are easily 
                          fulfilled. All items produced are entirely hand-made. 
                          Various companies have models developed to give as exclusive 
                          gifts, for example – wallets, cases, calendar 
                          covers and visiting card cases are made in series of 
                          up to 200. The profits achieved in Germany are sent 
                          back to support the cooperative’s investment funds.
