| For instance: Waste Management
Waste management has been assigned the highest
priority on all developmental agendas of recent
times, especially in newly industrialized regions.
These regions have been able to bring their economies
to life, at least in the short-term, by offering
local advantages such as cheap labor and poor
                                environmental standards. International requirements
and national laws are now becoming more stringent
and the importance of the planet and its resources
have been recognized. Reducing the burden the
environment must carry and developing waste management
strategies such as reuse, recovery and recycling
play an important role for eco-tex and its partners. The Indian organization LINK has developed a waste
management program for the southern Indian city
of Tirupur concentrating on bringing under control
industrial and household waste and waste-water
pollution. Systems adapted to local conditions
using simple technologies can make an impact on
these problems and permanently change residents’
behavior. The consequences of continued unbridled
environmental destruction would be fatal for the
                                population.
